The One Source principle is a core point of Biblical Tension Theology because it preserves the biblical order of all life. It teaches that God alone is the ultimate origin of creation, redemption, sanctification, love, fruitfulness, ministry, and glory.

Man is not nothing. Man truly lives, responds, obeys, loves, serves, and bears fruit. But man is never the ultimate source. Man is the creature, not the Creator. The branch, not the vine. The recipient, not the giver. The participant, not the origin. The witness, not the glory.

Christ’s vine and branches metaphor brings this truth into sharp focus. A branch must remain connected to the vine because the vine is its life. In the same way, the believer must abide in Christ because Christ is the source of redeemed life. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. In Him, we bear much fruit. Through that fruit, the Father is glorified.

Therefore, the Christian confession must be simple and total:

My life is not from myself.

My salvation is not from myself.

My holiness is not from myself.

My love is not from myself.

My ministry is not from myself.

My fruit is not from myself.

My glory is not for myself.

All things are from God.

All things are through God.

All things are to God.

This is the order of creation.

This is the order of redemption.

This is the order of sanctification.

This is the order of discipleship.

This is the order of the church.

This is the order of true life.
