Definition:
The simultaneous affirmation of God’s perfections within the one divine being. These attributes and works do not compete or balance each other, but mutually fulfill and interpret one another. The cross often functions as the grammatical center of this category.
Three Diagnostic Criteria
- Do both sides answer the question: Who is God? / How is God fully perfect?
- Can both sides be simultaneously affirmed within the same passage or the same redemptive act?
- Would removing either side distort God’s character (e.g., love without holiness, holiness without mercy)?
Co-Perfection Tension Pairs:
- Holiness ↔ Love
- Justice ↔ Mercy
- Wrath ↔ Grace
- Transcendence ↔ Immanence
- Sovereignty ↔ Faithfulness
- Glory ↔ Humility (in Christ)
